Adrian H. "Adie" Carter, 84, of Cornelia St., died at CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born December 26, 1927, in Dannemora, NY, the son of Raymond C. Carter and Irene (Perry) Carter. He attended Dannemora High School and served in the United States Navy from 1945-1947. Following service, he played semi-professional baseball in the 1950's and was an umpire for many years throughout the North Country. He always had a love for the NY Yankees. He was active in the community, as a lifetime member of the Elks Club Lodge #621, lifetime member of American Legion Post 20, a member of VFW Post #125, the Moose Lodge and he was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2166. Adrian retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in 1983, after working 30 years as a Corrections Officer. Adrian is predeceased by his parents, a brother Ellison Carter and a sister Ruth King. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Barnum and her husband Seth of Halfmoon, NY, a son Adrian "Tiny" Carter of Cadyville, and a son Gary and his wife Susan of Wilbraham, MA, 2 grandchildren, Michael Carter and Amy Prorok, a great-granddaughter Elle Carter, and one brother Herbert Carter of Merritt Island, FL. Calling hours will be Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery.
