Agnes P Wood

Dannemora Agnes P. Wood, 73, of Pleasant Street, Dannemora, NY passed away on January 31, 2009 at Meadow Brook Health Care in Plattsburgh. She was born on May 11, 1935 the daughter of Herman and Cecile (Brown) LaPier. Agnes graduated from Mooers Central School and soon after began working for the United States Air Force at Plattsburgh Air Force Base serving as Head Purchasing Agent. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora and enjoyed fishing and bowling. Agnes was an excellent cook and was well known for cooking spaghetti and meatballs on Sunday at her home. Agnes was predeceased by her parents Herman and Cecile (Brown) LaPier and two sisters; Beverly LaPier in infancy and Barbara Ducharme. Agnes is survived by her husband Gordon Joseph Wood of Dannemora, NY. Four Children; Deborah Hammond of Plattsburgh, NY, Michael Wood and his wife Cheryl of Saranac, NY, Mark Wood and his wife Novia-Lee of Dannemora, NY and Darlene Eggleston and her husband Todd of Schuyler Falls, NY. Eight grandchildren; Ryan, Corey, Travis, Dana-Lynn, Kevin, Hannah, Justin and Cody. Five great-grandchildren; Hayleigh, Gavin, David, Vala and Grady. Two sisters; Rita Mazdzer of Lake City, FL and Theolus Trombley and Laverne of Ellenburg, NY and a brother Herman LaPier, Jr. and his wife Sue of Prattsburgh, NY. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday February 4, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Thursday February 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Louis de France Cemetery in Sciota, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh.
