A resident of Plattsburgh, N.Y. for 66 years, Alice Repas, 98, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, NY. She was born on April 17, 1913 in Glens Falls, N.Y., the daughter of Thomas and Leah (Cross) Hamell. Alice graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1930, and from the Physicians Hospital School of Nursing in Plattsburgh in 1934. After graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at Physicians Hospital and at Glens Falls Hospital. She married George P. Repas of Plattsburgh, N.Y. on October 31, 1944 at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. Several years after her marriage, she retired from her nursing career to raise a family. Alice was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh, and, over the years, she volunteered in a wide range of church activities. She also participated in volunteer work at the Physicians Hospital, and she remained active in her nurses' alumnae group. She was an avid reader, and a supporter of the Plattsburgh Public Library. She is survived by a son, Peter (Christine), of Castleton; a daughter, Christina Bickford (H. Randall), of Ossining; three grandchildren, Kathryn Repas, Christopher Repas and Nathan Bickford; a sister, Carla Hamell, of Troy; a sister-in-law, Nancy Repas, of Plattsburgh; nieces, Cynthia Duquette of Rutherford, New Jersey and Constance Repas of Hammond, N.Y.; and nephews, Thomas and James Hamell of South Burlington, VT. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years in 1999, and by her brother Thomas C. Hamell in 2000. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Plattsburgh Public Library book fund for book purchases in memory of Alice Repas.
