Alison M. Doh, 57, of Plattsburgh, NY, whose generosity and wit rejoiced all who knew her, died at her home on Saturday, October 29, 2016. She was born on January 16, 1959, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Herman and Barbara (Monroe) Doh. Alison attended Plattsburgh State's Campus School, whose creativity she loved, graduated from Plattsburgh High School, received her B.A. from Metropolitan State College of Denver and her M.A. from SUNY Plattsburgh. For over ten years she taught Art and English at Northern Adirondack Central School, where even the 7th graders loved her and did her bidding. Later she was active with the National Alliance for Mental Illness, for which she presented "In Our Own Voice," speaking to groups about mental illness, and created the exhibition "Walk in My Shoes," shown locally and displayed in Albany. Alison was an artist with glass, paper, clay, fabric, the interiors of rooms, but with no medium better than words. A philosophic child, a teen whose exuberant outfits glittered in the sun, in her maturity a nurturer of remarkable devotion, she was in every stage not only admirable but purely unforgettable. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Herman Doh, in 2000. Alison is survived by her mother, Barbara Doh of Plattsburgh; a brother, Jonathan Doh, his wife Robin Abell, and their children Alyssa Abell-Doh and Lorelei Abell-Doh, all of Haverford, PA; several cousins and their families; Nan Brown of Winston-Salem, NC, John Monroe of Mexico, NY, Mark Monroe of Ossining, NY, and Scott Monroe of Charlottesville, VA; her dear friends Amy Worley of West Chazy, NY; Mo McCoy of Tucson, AZ; Ann Tracy, and Dorothy Latta, both of Plattsburgh. On Saturday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. a memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh. Interment will be in the family plot at the Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY. Friends may make donations in Alison's memory to the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsburgh or the Friends of the Plattsburgh Public Library. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901, 518-561-3980. Online condolences and memorial candles may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.
