Almira E. Fredette, 104, of Plattsburgh, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Meadowbrook Healthcare with family by her side. Born and raised in Plattsburgh, Almira was the daughter of the late Felix and Alma (Roy) Trombley.
Almira was rich in love, family and faith. As a member of St. Peter’s Church and St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, she was a shining example of service to others. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister, a Religious Education Teacher, a sponsor for RCIA candidates and a member of the Secular Order of St. Francis. Almira was ministering to her neighbors well into her 90s, bringing them Eucharist and arranging for Mass to be said in her apartment building.
Almira was the adored mother of seven sons and their spouses; George Fredette of Essex Junction, VT, John and Donna Fredette of Plattsburgh, Andrew and Mary Jean Fredette of Medway, MA, Thomas Fredette and Carmen Carpentier of Plattsburgh, Ronald and Linda Fredette of Rouses Point, Michael and Catherine Fredette of Glenmont and Joseph and Julie Fredette of Beekmantown. She was the cherished Meme to 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Almira is also survived by her brother, Thomas Trombley, of Plattsburgh as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George L. Fredette; her siblings Silas, Felix, Andrew, Joseph, Alfred, and Gilbert Trombley, Rose Ann Soucy, Aurora Fontaine, Lena Mitchell, Rita Caron, Theresa Curtis, Delima Wood and Gloria Morrow; and daughters-in-law Shirley and Joyce Fredette.
Many happy memories were made on Rt. 9N where special bonds were forged with each of her sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. Sunday lunch was an epic meal often followed by Michigans for dinner, an awesome dessert and much laughter! Her doughnuts (smeared with peanut butter) were legendary! Almira’s example of love in action was a precious model for her family.
The Fredette family would like to thank all of the caregivers and providers at Meadowbrook Healthcare for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Almira.
