Anna A St Jacques

June 2, 1933 — April 11, 2019

Anna Arlene (McCullough) St. Jacques, 85, formerly of Point Au Roche and Beekmantown, and most recently the Samuel F. Vilas Home, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 11, 2019 after a long illness.
Anna was born on June 22, 1933, in Vergennes, Vermont, one of seven children of Harold and Erma (Lareau) McCullough.
Anna was predeceased in 1994 by her husband Omer (“Doc”) St. Jacques, to whom she was married for 37 years. Anna and Doc spent the early years of their marriage moving around quite frequently until Doc retired from the Navy, and they settled in the North Country. They worked together raising their daughters and established a successful State Farm Insurance agency in Plattsburgh. As Doc’s health failed late in his life, Anna sought the continuing education she needed to continue running the business on her own. She retired from the insurance business in 1994.
Anna adored traveling parts of the US hiking and camping with her sister Phyllis and their daughters as the girls were growing up. Later in life, she loved cruising and visiting many other parts of the world with her three daughters. Anna also loved going to the casino, bowling, and playing cards with her lady friends. She was passionate about animals and worked to raise funds for the Elmore SPCA in recent years.
Anna is survived by her children, Princess Devlin and her husband Peter Devlin of Winchester, MA, Patience Landry and her husband John Landry of Plattsburgh, and Pamela St. Jacques of Plattsburgh, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, all her siblings, her daughter, Susan Knowlton, and her beloved grandson, 1st Lt. Brian R.S. Deforge.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery where she will eternally rest with her husband and grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the Elmore SPCA, 556 Telegraph Rd, Peru, NY 12972.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.
