Arnold P. "Arnie" Burdeau, 80, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 22 2016. He was born September 7, 1935 in Altona, NY, the son of Philbert and Pearl Burdeau. Arnold is survived by his wife, Pearl; daughter Dauna L. Overly; son Stephen and his wife Kari; son Michael; sister Muriel Burdeau; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son Arnold "AP". He lived his life in four-part harmony. He enjoyed barbershop quartet singing, and was an amazing bass in numerous quartets. He was an active member of the Cumberland Bay Chorus for over 50 years and was the head writer and emcee for several of the annual shows. He was a passionate sports fan. He followed NCAA basketball, the NBA, and the NFL, but his greatest fervor was for the New York Yankees. He maintained a shrine to the Yankees in his home and he reveled in showing it to visitors. He was a talented educator. Arnold graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Masters of Education and taught 7th grade social studies for 33 years at Plattsburgh Middle School. During his teaching years, he developed extensive custom course material, including an award-winning audio-visual program on the Battle of Plattsburgh. He was elected and served proudly for many years as a delegate to New York State United Teachers (NYSUT). Finally, and most importantly, he was a devoted family man. He was a caring father for his four children, often participating in their pickup sports in his younger days. Arnold cherished his loving wife during their nearly 60 years of marriage; the two enjoyed extensive travels across the United States. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, June 26 at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 27 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4919 S Catherine St, Plattsburgh, burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh, with a reception to follow.
