Arthur E "Art" Brault

Cumberland Head Chief Arthur "Art" "180" Brault, 54, of Bay Road Cumberland Head passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the UVMCH/CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 18, 1962 the son of Andrew "Sonny" and Helen (King) Brault. Art graduated from Mount Assumption Institute, Class of 1980. He worked by his father's side at Andrew Brault and Sons Construction for many years where he learned many trades. He is currently employed as Building and Maintenance Supervisor for the Town of Plattsburgh. Art joined the Cumberland Head Fire Department in 1987. He is the longest serving Fire Chief in Clinton County having served as Fire Chief at Cumberland Head Fire Department since 1992. Art was an active member of the Clinton County Fire Chiefs Association. He initiated the current cold water rescue team which has served the community well. He was the catalyst in bringing the Cumberland Head Fire Department up to the high standards it holds today. The Department was his life. Art coached soccer on Cumberland Head and was very involved in the community. He enjoyed doing construction projects with his sons and daughter and traveling with his children to many sporting events. His greatest joy was his family. He was predeceased by a son Matthew Brault, his father Andrew "Sonny" Brault, a sister Andrea Trombly, a brother Anthony Brault. Art is survived by wife of 33 years Donna (Fleming) Brault of Cumberland Head, they were married on May 28, 1983 at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head, his mother Helen Brault of Plattsburgh, two sons; Christopher and Andrew "A. J." Brault of Plattsburgh and his companion Elizabeth Compeau of Colchester, VT, a daughter Jenna Brault and her companion Jordan Calandros of Plattsburgh, a brother David Brault and his wife Deborah of Essex, VT, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Tom and Ellen Fleming of Cumberland Head, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Angela Fleming of Cumberland Head, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday December 26, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cumberland Head Elementary School. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Art's memory may be made to the Cumberland Head Fire Dept.
