Arthur E Gonyo

Arthur E. Gonyo formerly of Chazy, NY, and most recently of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on April 27, 2024. Arthur was born on December 24, 1938, the son of Arthur E. Gonyo Sr. and Margaret (Behan) Gonyo. He graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1956. He married Elnor M. (Trombly) Gonyo on September 20, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. He worked for Grand Union Company until he retired in 1992. Art and Elnor enjoyed spending their free time working in their yard and flower gardens. They also enjoyed visits with their sons and their families over the years. Arthur is survived by his sons Keith (Karen) Gonyo of Virginia, Kevin (Myra) Gonyo of Arizona, three grandchildren, Elyse Gonyo of Virginia, Andrew (Sarah) Gonyo of Virginia, and Kristopher Gonyo of Washington State; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters, Monna Fountain of Chazy, NY and Donna Weightman of West Chazy, NY, nephews, Dale (Amy) Gonyo of Chazy, NY and Rob (Lisa) Gonyo of West Chazy, NY, and niece Daryl (Todd) Bourgeoise of Chazy, NY. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, his parents, one brother (Kenneth and his wife Karla), and his brother-in-law Dale Weightman. At Arthur’s request, there will be no calling hours. Following cremation, his ashes will be with his wife’s at Divine Mercy Cemetery on Cumberland Head. Donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home.
