Morrisonville Mr. Arthur H. "Art" Maggy, 71, of Rand Hill Road Morrisonville, New York passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. He was born in Saranac, New York on March 21, 1941 the son of William and Cora (Fournia) Maggy. Art graduated from Saranac Central High School and enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps serving from August 1958 to August 1963. He was active member and Life Member of the American Legion Post #20 Plattsburgh, where he served in all offices and on all committees and was Past Post Commander. Art was Clinton County Post Commander, District Post Commander and served at the state level of the American Legion where he was a member of the Press Association. He retired as a civilian employee from the New York State Department of Corrections at Chateaugay Correctional Facility. Art enjoyed bowling and served on the Board of Directors of the Young American Bowling Alliance and the Plattsburgh Men's Bowling Association. He was also a Life Member of 40 and 8 Voiture Locale #483, a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #125, a Charter Member of the WWII Memorial, a member of Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada and he was a board member of the US Selective Service System. He also enjoyed collecting eagles and traveling. Art was predeceased by his parents William and Cora Maggy, a brother Harold Maggy and a sister Esther Allen. Art is survived by his wife of forty two years Marie (Trombley) Maggy of Morrisonville, three sons; Michael Maggy of Ohio, Merton Maggy and his wife Lisa of Lacona, Arthur II "Buddy" Maggy of Peru, three daughters; Pauline Hebert of Fuquay Varina, NC, Tina Kendrick and her husband Clyde of Plattsburgh, Tonya Trinkle and her husband Carmen of Louisiana ,a brother Edmund Maggy and his wife Delores of SC, a sister Linda Douglas of Texas, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At Art's request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Interment with military honors will follow at Assumption of Mary Cemetery in Redford. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901, (518) 561-3980.
