Barbara Lawliss Monto, 76, of West Chazy, passed away Sunday July 3, 3022 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on July 17, 1946 the daughter of Bernard and Dora (Royal) Lawliss.
She graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1963.
Barbara married Glenn Monto in May 1964 and was a resident of Military Turnpike.
She was serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Alexander’s Parish. She was an active and devoted participant in that faith community, bringing Communion and joy to shut-ins and hospital patients. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters Court 2663 of St. Andre and St. Kateri.
She is predeceased by her husband, Glenn, her parents, an infant sister, Veronica, a sister, Carol Moore, brother-in-law, David Moore, and brother-in-law, Charles Murphy.
Barbara is survived by her sons; Jason Monto, Eric Monto and his companion Destiny Bechard, her granddaughter, Tiagh and her husband Jeremiah Dezan, her great-grandchildren Connor and Haevyn Dezan, brothers, James (George-Ann) Lawliss, Winston “Duffy” (Mary Ann) Lawliss and David (Jania); and a sister, Jane Lawliss Murphy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a special friend Karla Brewer.
In addition to her beloved family, Barbara’s great love was all animals, especially horses, which she raised and trained.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the 4th floor of CVPH Hospital, especially Viviane and Liset, for their loving and compassionate care of Barbara during her final illness.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville, from 10:30-11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Alexander’s Church.
