Barry M. “Bitter” St. Louis, 72 of Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center-CVPH in Plattsburgh with his family by his side. He was born May 4, 1952, the son of Rena (Meschinelli) and Edgar St. Louis. Barry attended St. John's Academy, graduating in 1970. He then attended Northeastern University and SUNY Plattsburgh, class of '74. During high school and college, Barry was a car hop at the famous Nitzi's Hot Dog Stand and later managed OTB when it came to Plattsburgh in 1975. Barry began a career with the United States Postal Service in 1978 and retired in 2012. During his career he held the roles of clerk, supervisor and was postmaster in Champlain for 10 years and Keeseville for 15. Barry was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed attending the Saratoga racetrack each summer. He was also a coach and board member for boys Babe Ruth Baseball and Girls Peewee Softball. He is survived by his daughter Erin (William) Light, of Plattsburgh, his son Erik St. Louis of Morrisonville, his sister Lori (Colin) Raffield, of Ledyard, Connecticut, the mother of his children, Beth St. Louis, of Plattsburgh and companion Debbie Gordon-Linney, of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, Boone Light. Calling hours will be held on Monday September 16, 2024 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at Divine Mercy Cemetery on Cumberland Head.
