Lyon Mountain Mrs. Belva B. Collins, 91, of Honey Drive in Plattsburgh and formerly of Lyon Mountain, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh with family by her side. She was born in Lyon Mountain on May 21, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Mary (LaValley) Sorrell. Belva enjoyed music, dancing, and caring for her family and was a member of St. Bernard's Parish. She is survived by a son: Nathan Collins of Plattsburgh, her daughters and sons in law; Rebecca Bailey of Alabama, Loretta and Robert Breyette of West Chazy, Mary and Gary Lamora of Morrisonville, Ann and Carlton Rounds of Lyon Mountain, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren , 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Winfred E. "Winnie" Collins, whom she married December 18, 1937 in Champlain, passed away earlier. A daughter Linda Held, her sisters, Hazel Wells and Evelyn Bruno and her brothers; Arthur, Leeward, Norman and Nathan Sorrell and two grandchildren Sabrina and Debbie also passed away earlier. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
