Bernard Boissey, age 89 of Rand Hill Road in Morrisonville died Nov 9, 2011 at his home. He was born February 15, 1922 in Malone NY to William and Nettie Boissey. He had one sister Margaret. Bernard married Rita Furnia on November 21, 1946 in Ellenburg NY, they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. He joined the US Navy in 1941 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1961. After retiring from the Navy he settled in Morrisonville and was employed by the US Post Office as a rural mail carrier. Bernard and his wife were avid gardeners.and after he retired from the post office, he became involved in woodworking. Bernard always took great pride in his military service. For the last 18 years he was the primary caregiver for his wife who was legally blind and suffered from osteoporosis. He is survived by his wife Rita; His son Bruce and his wife Lynda of Millbrook, NY; his son James and companion Cynthia of Salida Colorado; his son David and his wife Vicki of King NC; Eight grandchildren: Keri Youkon of Vancouver, WA; Erik Zinsmeyer of Hay Market, VA; Marc Boissey of Millbrook, NY; David Boissey, Jr. of Fort Bragg, NC; Michael Boissey of Tobaccoville, NC; Timothy Boissey of Hollywood, CA; Christopher Boissey of Nellis AFB, Las Vegas - currently serving in Afghanistan; Stephen Boissey of Winston-Salem, NC; and 10 great grandchildren. Bernard was predeceased by his father William, his mother Nettie and his sister Margaret. Visitation will be at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday November 13, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alexander's, Morrisonville at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 14, 2011. Burial will take place at St. Alexander's Cemetery.
