Bernard (Bernie)Allen Christian Sr., 59, of Plattsburgh, died Sunday, May 12, 2024 at UVM with family at his bedside. He was born Thursday October 15th, 1964, the son of Benjamin Christian and Hazel Laporte (Lamere). Bernie obtained his GED from NY and VT in 1986 and entered the Army National Guard which he was extremely proud of. Bernard was a man of many talents and skills. He worked for St. Johns Academy and church for many years. He was the groundskeeping supervisor for the cemeteries, school and church. He took great pride in his work and made sure all the grounds were immaculate. Bernie was also supervisor of maintenance for the school, where he again took great pride in his work and ensured the school was always in the best repair and all safety measures were followed. Bernie also worked at CVPH. He began in the materials management department and became a chief delegate for SEIU1199. He then was approached by management and asked to accept a supervisor position for Environmental services, a position he held until his illness made it impossible to continue working. Bernie loved hunting, fishing, playing his guitar, and was a devoted hulkamaniac (actually anything that involved the WWE). He enjoyed all westerns and was a trekkie through and through. Most of his most cherished memories are of doing activities with his 3 sons, grandchildren and several more family/friends. Family and friends would sit and listen to him play his guitar and sing for hours. After his cancer made it hard for him to do these hobbys, he and his wife Kelli began gardening which he also enjoyed, much to his chagrin. Going out every morning with his wife to check the progress of the plants and bushes. He was a gentle giant of a man with the worlds best hugs, and was an anchor for many of his friends and family in times of need. Bernie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 38 years, Kelli . Their 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. Bernard ( Bernie) JR and Brandy (Myatt) Christian and their two children Abigail(Abby) Christian and Jaxsin Christian of Killeen Tx, Aaron Christian and his daughter Rory (RoRo) Christian of Saranac NY and Justin Christian of Plattsburgh NY.
