Bernard Defiette

Saranac Mr. Bernard Defiette, age 89, of Ganong Drive, Saranac, New York, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Meadowbrook Health Care. He was born in Saranac, NY on October 3, 1921 so of Vilas and Margaret (Maroney) Defiette. Bernard was a graduate of Cadyville High School. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He retired from NYS Department of Corrections in 1982 after 34 years of service. Bernard was predeceased by his parents; his wife Irene; and a brother Charles. He is survived by a son Michael DeFiette and his wife, Jacquelyn of Saranac; two daughters: Brenda Post of Watertown and Barbara Myers and her husband, Thomas of Adams Center; as sister Katherine Bell of Suitland, MD; two brothers-in-law: Keith Cringle and his wife Myrtle of Saranac, Thomas Cringle and his wife, Cindie of Massena, NY; two sisters-in-law Alice Cringle of Saranac and Patricia Avrit of California; Three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Bernard's request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Independent Cemetery in Saranac in the spring.
