Bernard F Murphy Jr

Plattsburgh Mr. Bernard F. Murphy, Jr., 90, of Johnson Avenue in Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. He was born in Glens Falls, N.Y. on October 28, 1922, the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Snyder) Murphy, Sr. Bernard graduated from St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh in 1941 and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II . He was a graduate of Plattsburgh State and Columbia University and was a teacher for the Plattsburgh City School District for 36 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and a former member Plattsburgh B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge # 621. He enjoyed reading and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mae (Ward) Murphy, two sons and daughters in law; Kevin and Jeannine Murphy, Shane and Diane Murphy, all of Plattsburgh, two daughters and sons in law; Colleen and Kenneth Hynes of Plattsburgh, Shannon and Denis Mousseau of Peru, two brothers and three sisters in law; Leonard and Ruth Murphy of Phoenix, Az., Kathy Murphy, Marvin and Dolores Murphy, all of of Stony Brook, N.Y., three sisters and two brothers in law; Theresa Spivey of Orlando, Fl., Dorothy and Benjamin Marsh of Burlington, Iowa, Collista and James Reed of Riverside, Ca., 8 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Raymond Murphy. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the North Country Veterans Association or Our Lady of Victory Church.
