Bernard J "Sonny" Lamora Jr

Bernard "Sonny" J. LaMora, Jr., 70, of Route 22B, Schuyler Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on August 31, 1943 the son of Bernard and Lillian (Davidson) LaMora, Sr. Bernie joined the United States Army in 1963; he was assigned to the 3rd Engineering Battalion, Alpha Company, working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Germany. Bernie returned home in 1966 after being honorably discharged and began working at C.I.L. He married Anice LaClair on May 17, 1969 at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg, NY. Soon after he began working for the New York State Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. Bernie retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in 2002 after 33 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1619. Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, wood working, coin collecting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents. Bernie is survived by his wife of 45 years Anice LaMora, three children; Bryan LaMora and his wife Teri of Plattsburgh, Andrea LaMora-Legge and her husband Scott of Morrisonville, Brandon LaMora and his wife Nicole of Albany, five grandchildren; Brennen and Macey LaMora, Victorea, Bryana and Alivia Legge and a sixth grandchild, a boy, is expected in June. His siblings and their spouses; Carolyn (Paul) Kyea of Plattsburgh, David (Susan) LaMora, Bonnie Bixby of Virginia and Paul (Cheryl) LaMora of Plattsburgh, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Monday May 12, 2014 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
