Plattsburgh Bernice T. Cooper, 89, formerly of Woodland Drive, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Sunday March 23, 2008 at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Rouses Point, New York on August 19, 1918 the daughter of John W. and Sara Elizabeth "Lillian" (Rochester) Traynor. Bernice was a graduate of Rouses Point High School class of 1936. She was employed at Ayerst, McKenna and Harrison (currently Wyeth Labs) as secretary to Mr. Franklin R. Forbes, production manager, until her marriage to Mr. Richard Cooper on May 11, 1943. Sgt. And Mrs. Cooper then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, returning to Rouses Point in 1945. Bernice is survived by her sisters-in-law Rejane Traynor of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rita Cooper of Millbury, Massachusetts, three brothers-in-law, Joseph Bailey of Rouses Point, Allen Cooper of Pawhatton, Virginia, Merrill Cooper of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. Bernice was pre-deceased by her husband, Richard Cooper, Sr. in 1988, her son, Richard Cooper, Jr. in May of 2007, her sister Wanda Traynor Bailey and her brother, Richard Traynor. Calling hours will be Wednesday March 26, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. David Ousley officiating. Burial will be later in the year at Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Cooper's memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 18 Trinity Place, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 or to Hospice of the North Country, 43 Durkee Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
