Betty Jean Lynch, 90, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. died on Saturday, July 20, 2019. She was born in the Town of Belmont, New York on August 10, 1928 the daughter of the late Lewis and Marjorie Royal.
Survivors include her daughter Dawn Marie de Grandpré and her husband Chris of Rouses Point, N.Y., two grandchildren Dawn Elizabeth de Grandpré of Taunton, Massachusetts, Christopher B. de Grandpré II and his wife Amanda of Plattsburgh, NY. Surviving family members include her two Sisters, Marjorie Royal and Doris Buskey of Plattsburgh. Also surviving Betty are Brother-In-Law Kenneth Lynch and wife Helen Lynch of Valley Stream, N.Y. along with Gerry and Christine Lynch of Florida, Sal and Darlene Caruana of New Jersey. Betty’s ever devoted husband, Raymond J. Lynch Jr., predeceased her in 2004.
Betty Jean Lynch was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and the Plattsburgh Business School. She was employed by local Pediatrician, Dr. Peter Pulrang, MD as the Practice’s Office Manager and Bookkeeper for 20 years.
Mrs. Lynch was a devoted member of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed many summer visits to St. Anne’s Shrine, Isle LaMotte, Vt. and memorable family vacations on the southern coast of Maine. Since retirement Mrs. Lynch enjoyed gardening and her family, especially her grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Madeline Haring, Christopher de Grandpré III, David Haring, Nolan de Grandpré, Samuel de Grandpré and Charlotte Haring.
The family of Betty Jean Lynch would like to express sincerest appreciation to Monsignor Dennis Duprey, Reverend Father Kevin McEwan, Deacon Brian Neureuther, Dr. Jeffrey Shelby and Dr. Richard Webber along with Home Care providers Sherry McKee and Annette Miller, for their faithful, thoughtful and compassionate care of Betty.
“Nanny” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, will be dearly missed by all who knew and cherished her.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
