Brent Burke Deshaies, 47 years old, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family following an eight month battle with cancer. He fought with courage, strength and bravery. Born in Plattsburgh to Donald Deshaies and the late Carol Ann Deshaies. Brent attended Beekmantown High School where he was a gifted athlete and beloved friend to many. A post grad year at Phillips Exeter Academy was followed by obtaining his degree at the University of New Hampshire and University of Albany. Brent's incredible athletic ability shined through in football, basketball and track. Brent started his career in Healthcare IT at IDX Systems Corp. He then spent the majority of his career at UVM Health Network-Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) as the Director of Applications Support and Development. His work ethic was centralized around always putting the patient first. Brent's proudest role in life was being a father to his four children. He committed himself to supporting, protecting, guiding, and providing all the light in the world for his children. Summers were spent boating on Lake Champlain, taking day trips to St. Armand's beach, weekend trips at Valcour Island, and relaxing lakeside at his childhood home on Cumberland Head where he felt his truest joy. Brent created a powerful sense of tradition. Holidays were nothing short of extravagant. Every birthday and celebration was spent surrounded by family, laughs, food, and love. He was always dedicated to creating unforgettable memories. Every day, he lived with the mindset of providing a positive and loving environment for those he held close.
