Brian K. Bishop

Brian Keith Bishop, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday October 31, 2024 after a brief battle with ALS. He was born on January 25, 1960 the son of the late James E. Bishop Sr and Anna Marie(Visnaw) Bishop, in St. Ignace, MI. Brian graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1978. While in high school, he played baseball, basketball and football. Later he went onto college at Clinton community College for criminal justice. Brian began his 27-year career in corrections in 1980, retiring in 2007. He was also a proud member of the Sault Ste Marie Chippewa Indians Tribe. He spent many summers on Mackinac Island. Brian was an avid Yankees and Jets fan. His grandchildren always said he should have been a sports commentator. Brian enjoyed singing karaoke any chance he could. Left to cherish him is his wife, Mary Latour. A son Ryan Bishop (Brianna), stepsons Brian Latour (Brooke),and Billy Latour (Rayna). Sister, Julie Houghton. Grandchildren Jaxton, Leo, Landon and Liam. Several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, James Jr. and Stephen. Sisters Bonnie and Joanne. Mother and father in-law Mary and William Burke. Brian is an organ donor hero for medical studies on epilepsy, ALS, and Dementia. Honoring his brother Stephen. There will be no calling hours at Brian’s request.
