Carl A. Provost

Carl A. Provost, Sr., of Plattsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at UVM Health Network- CVPH in Plattsburgh at the age of 80. He was born in Amarillo,Texas on January 9, 1945, the son of Victor and Gertrude (Bell) Provost and relocated to Plattsburgh at a young age. Like his father, Carl was a carpenter, working for the Clinton County Buildings and Grounds until his retirement in 2006. He was also a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and spent much of his life working hard and taking care of those he loved. He enjoyed building, trips to the casino, and spending time with his family. Family was everything to him. He was a lifetime practicing Catholic and member of St. Alexander’s Church. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Cheryl (Provost) Daniels. Carl is survived by his wife Sharon (Desso) Provost of Plattsburgh, his son Carl Provost, Jr. (CJ) and his wife Amy Menard, his daughter Jessica (Provost) Nutt and her husband Jerrod Nutt, and three grandchildren: Dylan Ferrigno, Sarah Provost, and Victor Nutt. His brothers Rodney (Rae), Gary (Perry), James (Neva), Kevin, and Daniel Provost all survive him, as well as his Aunt Deanna Bell and several nieces and nephews. And dear to his heart are Cathy Vu, neighbor and friend, who lovingly referred to him as, “daddy” and his helper, Jess Garrant. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11:00 at St. Alexander’s Church. Burial will be later in the year at St. Alexander’s Cemetery. Masses may be said in his memory and donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Outreach Center: Soup Kitchen in Morrisonville, NY.
