On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, Carol E. LeClair, loving wife and mother, passed away in her home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 70. She was surrounded by her husband, Charles (Chuck) LeClair of 26 years, and their children.
Carol E. Sweatt was born on February 14, 1949 and is the daughter of George and Betty (Whitney) Sweatt of Henniker, New Hampshire, where Carol spent her childhood and graduated from Cogswell Memorial High School (now known as the Cogswell Memorial Middle School). She is a three-year veteran of the US Army, and honorably discharged at the rank of E5. After leaving the U.S. Army, she spent five years in the Army National Guard as part of the 744th Transportation Unit of Hillsboro, New Hampshire. She was employed with the State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation (DOT) for many years before her retirement.
Carol loved gardening and traveling with her best friend and husband, Chuck. They traveled throughout the United States and enjoyed cruise line vacations to different parts of the world. She shared her travel stories with friends and family and how she fell in love with Alaska’s beautiful landscapes and the Caribbean seas.
Their friends said that where Chuck could be found, Carol was too; they were inseparable. Chuck and Carol moved from Henniker to Greer, South Carolina, where they had lots of fond memories and made many friends. They moved back to Plattsburgh, New York in 2018 to be closer to family.
Carol leaves behind her daughter Debra Boyll and her husband John of Deering, NH; son John Dalphond Jr. and his fiancé, Michelle Cote of Brattleboro, VT; daughter Barbara Bluto and her husband Brian of Alburgh, VT; her stepdaughters Robin Carley and her husband John of Burke, NY; Tobi Soucia and her husband Bruce of Malone, NY; and Kelly LaRocque of St. Regis Falls NY. Carol also leaves behind several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Hospice of the North Country, 358 Tom Miller Rd., Plattsburgh, NY 12901, whose team provided Chuck with loving, caring support for the last few months.
