Catherine A Dumar

Catherine A. "Catteen" Dumar, 84, of Route 9, Chazy, NY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday October 28, 2011 at her home. She was born in Suckertown, NY on May 4, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Rock) Lucia. Catteen owned and operated Dumar's General Story with her husband Spaulding Dumar in Chazy for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. She then went on to work at Chazy Central School as an aide in the library for many years. Catteen was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society, religious education instructor for over 25 years and worked with the food pantry at both Sacred Heart Church and Chazy Presbyterian Church. She was also an avid reader. Catteen was predeceased by her husband Spaulding Dumar who passed away in 1993. She is survived by two sons; Michael Dumar and his wife Karen and Charles Dumar, a granddaughter Holly Dumar, a grandson Joseph Dumar and his wife Margaret, a great granddaughter Lily Ella all of Chazy, a sister Maude Bechard, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
