Cadyville Catherine A. Duquette, 53, of Maryland Road, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at home with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on October 14, 1956 the daughter of Clarence E. and Ruth V. (O'Connell) Duquette. Catherine was controller at the Press Republican, where she worked for 31 years. Catherine loved gardening and she spent countless hours in her and her family's flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed traveling, photography, cooking, sewing, camping, NASCAR and spending time with family and friends. Catherine served on the Board of Directors of Hospice of the North Country, Dannemora Federal Credit Union, was active in the Relay for Life and she was a member of St. Peter's Church. Catherine was predeceased by her mother Ruth V. Duquette, her paternal grandparents William and Julia Duquette and her maternal grandparents Charles and Leona O'Connell. She is survived by her father Clarence E. Duquette, Sr. of Cadyville, two sisters; Diana Duquette of Plattsburgh, Debra Varin and her husband Joseph of Chazy Lake, one brother Clarence E. Duquette, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Cadyville, her nieces; Marcy Amell, Alyssa Varin, Brittany Varin, Taylor Duquette, who is also her Goddaughter, her other Godchildren Brianna and Kaleb OBrien-Lamare, Austin Van Der Meulen, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends also survive her. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row, Cadyville, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Cadyville. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Hospice of the North Country or the American Cancer Society.
