Charles E. Bonner, 75, of Morrisonville, NY, died Sunday, October 27, 2024 at his Private Residence. He was born Thursday, March 3rd, 1949, the son of John Bonner and Lula Mae Bonner, in Winfield, Louisiana. He was one of five children. Little did Charles know that from his humble beginnings, his journey would take him across the world, touching countless lives along the way. Upon graduating High school in 1967, Charles joined the Air Force. During his 20 year military service, he traveled to many different locations. During his travels, he met his dear wife Cheryl in England in 1976. Charles was beloved by Cheryl’s mother and family. Charles and Cheryl married in 1979, beginning a beautiful life together that would last 45 years. A year later, they decided to move their family to Plattsburgh, NY, which changed their lives forever. In 1984, Cheryl was contacted by Jehovah’s Witnesses by telephone and later was baptized. Although, Charles at first did not express his faith, He was always supportive of his family’s faith, and Jehovah blessed him for it. He would sometimes join them at their meetings and would get up early to take his family to conventions. Charles always worked hard to provide for his family. Upon retiring from the military in 1989, he worked various jobs and eventually started working at Bombardier, where he worked for more than 15 years. During that time, he also pursued more education and received an Associates Degree in Applied Science. He retired in 2015. He had a unique blend of interests, from action movies and sci-fi adventures to the comfort of a Hallmark movie or a heartfelt K-drama. Music was one of his greatest loves, with Earth, Wind, and Fire and the Commodores always at the top of his favorites list. Although Charles was a quiet man, his actions spoke volumes. He was always present, always supportive, a steady and loving force in his family’s lives. When Cheryl’s health declined, he was always by her side to help, even when he was not feeling well himself. Later in life, Charles joined his family in true worship. It was his faith and love for Jehovah that moved him to become an unbaptized publisher. He gained strength, peace, and hope from the promises found in the Bible. Charles had a firm belief in the resurrection, when our loved ones will hear Jesus voice and come back to life. Charles is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl, his two children, Julian and Kelley, his daughter-in-law Jennifer, his sister Abby Sears, and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Lula Mae Hunter, his father John Bonner Jr., his brother John Allen Bonner, his sister Martha Banks, and his brother Aaron Abel Bonner. Services will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 3:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2623 RT-22, Peru, NY, 12972. Cards may be sent to Cheryl Bonner, PO Box 51, Morrisonville, NY, 12962. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeny.com.
