Altona Mr. Charles L. "Chuck" Holter, 86, of Station Street in Altona, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on January 16, 1925, the son of the late Carl and Ceil (Gross) Holter. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a printer in New York City for many years. He served as Vice President of the Twin Oaks Association in Altona. Chuck also enjoyed fishing and woodworking, going to the casinos and playing cards with his son Timothy. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores (Annitto) Holter whom he married June 19, 1954 in Valley Stream, Long Island, a son and daughter in law; Timothy and Carolann Holter of Morrisonville, two daughters and sons in law; Heidi and TJ White of Elizabethtown, Susan and James Provost of Graham, N.C., a brother and sister in law; Howard "Swampy" and Donna Marsh of Alpena, Mi., 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Stacey Easton. In accordance with Chuck's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held at Holy Angels Church in Altona at a later date.
