Morrisonville Charles A. Sellin, 92, of Brookside Drive, Morrisonville, NY passed away on Sunday December 5, 2010 at his home under care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 20, 1918 the son of Francis and Marguerite (Kelly) Sellin. Charles attended St. John's University in Brooklyn, N.Y. before being called to active duty as a Captain in the Army, where he served his country in both WWII and Korea. After the war he married Margaret R. Fedor of Jersey City, N.J. in 1946 with whom he raised four children in Saddle Brook, N.J. During this time, and until his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Fair Lawn, N.J., where he was active in his local National Assoc. of Letter Carriers, and served as its Secretary. In the 1980's, Charles moved to Plattsburgh, N.Y. where he met and married Mildred Garrow Forkey in 1989. Both were active members of their Catholic parishes, the latest being St. Louis de France in Sciota, where they served as Eucharistic Ministers. Charles was also a very active member of the American Military Retirees Association (AMRA), where he served a term as its National President. Charles was predeceased by his wife Margaret Fedor Sellin in 1971. He is survived by his wife Mildred, son Paul and wife Deloris of Houston, TX, Jon Lawrence and wife Marjukk of Espoo, Finland, daughter Judith Sellin-Wymbs of Malvera, PA, and Nancy and husband Al Schimming of Austin, TX, along with 8 grandchildren and 2 great -grandchildren. Also surviving are Mildred's children: Brad and Carol Forkey of Clifton Park, N.Y., Linda and Keith Facteau of Rainserville, Alabama and James and Lisa Forkey of Saranac, N.Y., along with 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Charles will always be remembered as a humble and true gentleman with a great love of God, family and country. At Charles's request their will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis de France Church in Sciota, NY; burial will follow in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.
