Charles V. “Butch” Trudo, 76 of Morrisonville, NY passed away on May 7, 2022 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on October 9, 1945, the son of the late Arthur and Elsie (Hayes) Trudo.
He was the second of eight children, and was the “book worm” of the family and the school, bragging about having read “all the books in the school library at least once”. After graduating from Altona High School, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. Charles served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War doing four tours. He earned the title of Force Reconnaissance Marine in 1965 just before deploying to Vietnam. Butch earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal as well as the National Defense Service Medal. He fought in the Tet Offensive and served his country with pride.
Charles was an entrepreneur and had skills in carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and site preparation. Upon returning home he worked with his father moving trailers and helping set them up to provide people with housing that was affordable and of high quality. Charles was a member of many rod and gun clubs as he was an avid hunter.
He enjoyed hunting anything that he could obtain a license for including deer, caribou, black bears and elk in North America. He also hunted in South Africa, Canada and Mexico. He loved visiting Colorado, Montana and Wyoming as well. He was a highly accomplished archer, giving up using guns later in life because he needed the challenge hunting with a bow provided. Even though he never had children of his own, he enjoyed all his nieces and nephews and helped to raise his Nephew Arthur Edward III.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Beverly Trudo, Linda (Trudo) Bonsie, Gloria (Trudo) Duso his brothers Arthur Trudo II, and Roy Trudo and nephews Arthur Trudo lll and Eldon Paul Burdo II.
Left to tell his stories and celebrate his life are his sister, Cynthia Trudo from Peru NY and brother Michael Trudo from Plattsburgh, NY. He was grateful for and enjoyed spending time with his 14 Nieces and Nephews, 31 Great Nieces and Nephews and 7 Great Great Nieces and Nephews who survive him. He also is survived by his maternal Aunt Elizabeth Hayes of Duanesburg, NY and long-time companion Susan Gebo of Morrisonville NY, as well as many friends who will miss sharing stories over coffee and seeing him at diner counters and tables throughout the North Country.
