Clifford L Chappell

Mr. Clifford L. Chappell, 80, of St. John Street in Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home. He was born in Churubusco on June 17, 1931, the son of the late William and Stella (LeClair) Chappell, Sr.. Clifford served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart recipient and was later employed for 24 years by the City of Plattsburgh Water & Sewer Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clifford also enjoyed fishing and was a member of American Legion Post 20 and Beekmantown V.F.W. Post 1466. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice (Page) Chappell whom he married March 1, 1948 in Deposit, N.Y., his children and their spouses: Sandra and James Betters of Illinois, David and Debbie Chapple of Rome, N.Y., Carol Warren and her companion Clifford Daniels of Plattsburgh, Bruce and Dawn Chapple of Cadyville, Catherine LaBombard and her companion Al Morrow of Plattsburgh, his siblings and their spouses; Howard Chapple , William and Margaret Chappell, Jr. of Schenectady, Gloria and Ed Makowiek of Florida, Betsy Collins of Florida , his brothers in law and sisters in law; Larry and Norma Page of Parishville, Evelyn Campbell of Virginia and Barbara Page of Parishville, his grandchildren : Adam and Alan Betters, Jeremy, David Jr., Heather, Amanda, and Patrick Chapple, LeeAnn Lustenader, Emily Fessette, Benjamin, Keith, Wesley and Taylor Chapple, Sherry LaBombard, , six great grandchildren; , and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a son, James Chappell, a brother Leonard and a sister Veronica passed away earlier. In accordance with Clifford's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to his family..
