Colleen Gloria Elizabeth (Collins) LaSalle 68 years old of Plattsburgh, NY died 6/25/17 of cardiac arrest. Colleen was born in Plattsburgh on 6/10/49 second child of Charles Henry Collins and Gloria Lena (Golden) Collins. She attended schools in the area to include Redford Academy, Peru Elementary and Plattsburgh High School. She married Raymond Herbert LaSalle on 12/6/69 in a rural church on the Military Turnpike located in West Chazy, NY. She raised three children and was a homemaker most of her life with exception of helping out at her daughter's home day care where she was affectionately known as Little Mimi'. Colleen enjoyed playing Tuesday morning Bingo with her friends in the community room at Robert S. Long Apartments where she resided. She loved playing Rummy, listening to her favorite oldies tunes - Ricky Nelson and Buddy Holly and spending time in the sun visiting with her friends and family. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews were her "pride and joy". She loved children in general and would fawn over them whether they were related or not. Colleen had a beautiful disposition and was a genuinely kind soul. She loved just about everyone she met and wasn't shy about telling her loved ones, "I think the world of you". Her favorite color was red. She loved owls and had quite an extensive collection of owl memorabilia. She had a passion for jewelry and a particular affinity to dangly earrings. Colleen complimented others daily and even multiple times daily. Her family, friends and aids knew that they were appreciated by Colleen's tight hugs and frequent words of affection. Her lovable, often humorous stories were one of her most endearing hallmarks. Colleen is survived by her husband of 48 years - Raymond LaSalle, daughter - Tammy Miller and son-in-law - Craig Miller, son - Charles LaSalle and daughter-in-law - Christine LaSalle, daughter - Pamela McCarthy, grandchildren - Corey Brown and his wife - Kristy Curry-Brown, Brandi Brown and her partner - Travis Doner, John Peryea, Jr., Sabrina Peryea, Brittany Crowningshield, great grandchildren - Margo Brown and Aubrey Crowninghshield, sisters - Mary Collins and brother-in-law- Arthur LaSalle, Carol Baker and brother-in-law - Lawrence Baker and Bonnie Tomkiewicz and brother-in-law - Stanley Tomkiewicz and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her dog - Teddy and bird - Coco. Colleen was predeceased by her parents - Charles and Gloria Collins and her eldest sister - Virginia VanNortwick. Calling hours will be at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6/28/17 from 8:30 am to 9:40 am. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's Church at 10 am followed by burial services at St. Peter's Cemetery. A private family reception will follow at the home of her eldest daughter. Thank you to all who contributed to the quality of life Colleen was able to lead both before and after her stroke in June 2015. A very special heartfelt thank you to Nicole Lahouidak, Connie McCray, Melissa Corron and Christine LaSalle - her home healthcare aids who cared for with as much compassion and love as she bestowed upon them. In memory of Colleen's kind, loving spirit and sunny, gentle disposition please consider doing a good deed today - or perhaps every day. Say a kind word, give an extra tight hug, pay a compliment - make someone else's day a little brighter.
