Cordelia Avery Drake

Mrs. Cordelia Avery Drake, 59, of Grace Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on January 11, 1953 the daughter of Floyd and Charlotte (Slingerland) Avery. Raised in Plattsburgh, Cordelia received her BA from Plattsburgh State and later her Masters in Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. She was a Nationally Board Certified Counselor and had been employed at Plattsburgh State as a counselor. Prior to becoming a counselor, she had been a Licensed Practical Nurse at CVPH Medical Center. Cordelia was predeceased by her father Floyd Avery. She is survived by her husband Alan "Ducky" Drake of Plattsburgh, her mother Charlotte Avery of Plattsburgh, four sisters; Joyce St. Germaine and her husband James of Plattsburgh, Mary Rock and her husband George of Morrisonville, Terri Madden of Plattsburgh and Shari Shovan of Washington State, her brother John Avery and his wife Donna of Ballston Spa, NY, many nieces and nephews also survive her. There will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
