Curtis Boyea, 85, of Rand Hill Road in Altona, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. He was born in the house he lived in, on April 16, 1935, the son of the late James and Emma (Labarge) Boyea.
Curtis was employed at Georgia-Pacific for over 43 years, retiring in 1997. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Angels Church in Altona, a member of the Sacred Heart Fraternity Secular Francian Order in Plattsburgh, and a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4441 in Ellenburg. He enjoyed his time with his family and his old McDonald farm for many years. In his youth he enjoyed deer hunting, horseshoes and planting his vegetable garden every summer. In his older years he enjoyed the casino and playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Deyo) whom he married June 23, 1956 at Holy Angels Church in Altona, a son Paul Boyea, his companion, (Jamie Bird), of Plattsburgh, 3 daughters; Margaret and Kenny Varin of Chazy Lake, Angela Boyea of Altona, Catherine and Bruce Warren of Altona, his grandchildren; Stephanie and Kenneth Varin, Kurt Boyea, Alysha and Wyatt Warren. His great grandchildren: Mason and Brooklyn Varin. A sister-in-law Mary Boyea. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, 3 children; Reginald, James and Peggy Boyea, a brother Douglas and 3 sisters; Doris (Casper) Barcomb, Pearl (Leonard) Lashway, and Olga (Ralph) Lapierre.
Due to COVID-19, calling hours and funeral services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests masses to be said in his memory.
