Curtis was born at home Nov 21 1942, the third of five children, in Peasleeville NY to Raymond and Eva (Archambault) Furnia.
Curtis dropped out of school and joined the United States Marine Corp; where he proudly served in the combat engineers from 1960-1964.
Upon returning from service he worked locally before moving to CT working at International silver in Wallingford CT. He then got hired on as a heavy equipment operator/welder working in tunnels and mines where he got to either live or work in 24 of the 50 states. He had a terrible accident on what became his last job in the tunnels when a 1-ton slab of steel fell on him as he was working below the vehicle it was on. He then owned his own auto mechanic garage. Eventually retiring from the work force totally and moved to PA.
He moved back to Plattsburgh NY in 2012 where he met and married the former Linda (Vincent) Lemos in July 2013.
Curtis was an avid fisherman and coffee drinker. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends especially when he won the quarters.
He loved to tell stories and adventures of his Marine Corp days, and his jobs in the tunnels working on the train and machinery to make the tunnels and his welding and mechanical work, and places he had seen as he traveled around the United States
