David Carl Buffett, 87, of Morrisonville died in his home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on December 17, 1936, the son of Carl Buffett and Anita (Rascoe) Buffett. David retired from the Plattsburgh City School District in 2004 after thirty four years of service as a Maintenance Mechanic. David enjoyed gardening and took much pride in planting and growing everything from trees to vegetables to plants and flowers. He was especially proud of his 10-ft tomato plants and his wall of morning glories that divided his property from the street. An avid bird watcher, David had several bird houses and feeders throughout his yard that he would keep filled and then, he and his best friend, his wife, would sit for hours on their enclosed porch and watch the many different varieties of birds that would come to build homes in the houses, eat from the feeders and bathe in the bath. David was also a very experienced handyman who took pride in the buildings he built and the homes he remodeled. He could take a house that was in complete shambles and literally falling apart and with his love, imagination and hard work, he could turn that house into the most beautiful home, a home to be proud of and to fill with laughter, joy and love. He is survived by: his wife, Angela (Abbruzzi) Buffett; two daughters: Janet Buffett Peterson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Karen Buffett Smith and her husband Randal of Plattsburgh, NY; a son, Neil Philip Buffett and his wife Jeanmarie of Long Island, NY; two step-daughters, Tara and Tawnya Hanson, both of Plattsburgh, NY; a step-son, Anthony Hanson and his wife Sheila of Clifton Park, NY; twenty grand-children; thirty great-grandchildren; 2 canine furbabies, Sammie and Kloey of Morrisonville, NY; and, a feline furbaby, Buttons 2, also of Morrisonville, NY. He was pre-deceased by his grandparents; parents; a brother, Philip Buffett; two sons, John and Carl Buffett; a great granddaughter, Kaizley Alizabeth Reeves; several aunts, uncles and furbabies. Calling hours will be held at Brown’s Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY on Sunday, March 10th from 1pm to 4pm. A Christian Mass will be held at Saint Alexander’s Catholic Church in Morrisonville at 1pm on Monday, March 11th, with burial to follow at a later date.
