David F Chauvin

David F. Chauvin, 72, of Mims, FL and formerly of West Chazy, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 16, 1946, the son of Louis and Eleanor (Relation) Chauvin. He graduated from St. John's Academy in 1964. In 1967, he married Patricia Anne Bierer of Plattsburgh, and together had two children, David Zenas and Victoria Anne. He operated his own dairy farm until he started up a trucking business which led him to the construction business. The family later moved to the Space Coast in Florida, and continued to work as a government construction contractor as Star Base Development; major projects including rebuilding the NASA Crawlerway in 3 different contracts. Locheed Space Operations Co. liked the work enough to give their Small Business Contractor of the Year award to Star Base Development. He was well liked by his employees and very respected by his government constituents. Dave's favorite hobbies were work, work, and more work. He was well known for his leadership capabilities with employees and family, his generosity, and his dedication to working tirelessly regardless of his health. He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Victoria Chauvin, and his brother Brian Chauvin. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Zenas, grandson Michael David Burns, and his brothers; Louis, John and Howard Chauvin. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
