David F. Robertson David F. Robertson, 80, died Tuesday November 11, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a difficult battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Dave was born in Cleveland, Ohio June 2, 1934, the only child of Alexander and Anne (Troche) Robertson. He graduated from Cathedral Latin High School and served in the US Army for 2 years. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Kent State, followed by his masters from the University of Iowa, and later his PhD from the Ohio State University. He began his career in college physical education in Illinois before accepting a position teaching and coaching cross-country running at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1962. He went on to coach men's tennis, as well as the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, and retired in 1996 as Chairman of the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department. During his 34 years at Plattsburgh State, Dave spent countless hours in the pool coaching, teaching SCUBA, swimming, and water safety courses, and directing a swim lesson program for faculty children. Outside of school, Dave operated a small scale beef cattle farm in Schuyler Falls for nearly a decade. Dave also enjoyed boating both on Lake Champlain and in the British Virgin Islands where he would retreat to escape the Plattsburgh winters. He was a member of the Champlain Power Squadron for many years holding several positions and serving as its commander. Dave is survived by his wife, Wendy Robertson of Latham, NY; daughter Cathy Pogharian, her husband Armen, and their children Nicholas, Anna, and Alexander of Pittsford, NY; daughter Mary Kay Foerster, her husband Hans, and their children Brian, Julia, Sarah, and Helen of Marion, IA; and son Michael Robertson, his wife Mary, and their daughter Anja of Mechanicville, NY. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11 AM at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, NY. Donations in Dave's memory may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross.
