David M Thew

David M. Thew Sr 74, of Plattsburgh passed away peacefully on Monday June 28th 2021 at the UVM-CVPH Medical center with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 29th 1946 the son of John Thew Sr and Bernice (Carter) Thew.
David worked for many years as an automotive mechanic. He was employed for many years at Cumberland Ford and then later at Garrands Nissan until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement he enjoyed hunting for white tail deer with many friends and family members. He also enjoyed helping his friends, family, and even strangers with any automotive issue they may have had. If there was a hood open, there was never a doubt that he would be there to help or give advice. David also enjoyed keeping his hands and mind busy making many different things including carvings, drawings, and handmade silver rings. Fishing was a major hobby in his younger years with his children. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and children every chance he got. He loved talking about his four children to anyone that was near. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a very intelligent, gentle, and caring man. He always protected and provided for his family no matter what.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Emily Thew, to whom he was married for 47 amazing years. He is also survived by his four children: Erica Elaine Brill and her husband Ronnie Brill of Greenville, South Carolina, David M. Thew Jr and his wife Paula Thew of Homosassa, Florida, Dwayne Thew of Plattsburgh New York, and Derrick Thew of Plattsburgh New York. He is also survived by his brother John Thew Jr.. David is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan Thew, Joe Longenbarger, Billy Brownlee, Mikayla Thew, Devin Thew and Michael Thew. David is also survived and missed by his dearest and most cherished friends Deniss Bower, Marlene Gonzalez, And Shayla Bower, all of whom were like his family to him.
David was predeceased by his parents:John Thew Sr and Bernice(Carter) Thew. He was also predeceased by his brothers, George Thew, and Richard "Dick" Thew and his sisters, Alice Thew, Barbara Whittington and her husband Vernon Whittington, Thelma Rivers, Esther Smith and Joan Snide.
