Plattsburgh Mr. David M. "Dave" Wehrlin, 79, of Riverside Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away peacefully Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with his loving family by his side. He was born in Brookhaven, Long Island on December 19, 1935 the son of Edward "Red" and Marion (Kennedy) Wehrlin. Dave proudly served as U. S. Marine during the Korean Conflict and a New York State Trooper. He then went to work building bridges for Standard Bridge out of Albany, New York and retired from the City of Plattsburgh where he was a housing inspector. Dave enjoyed boating, broomball, bobsledding, having a good time with family and friends, especially his grandsons. He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Keeseville Lodge, the Loyal Order of Moose Plattsburgh Lodge and the Knights of Columbus Council #255. He is a member of the American Legion Post #20, Plattsburgh. Dave was predeceased by his parents. He will fondly be remembered as the "Mayor" of Valcour Island. He is survived by wife of forty plus years, Barbara (LaVenture) Wehrlin of Plattsburgh, Deborah Wehrlin of South Burlington, VT, Lyndon Brothers and his wife Cindy of Beekmantown, David E. Wehrlin and his wife Kimberly of Colorado Springs, CO, Brandon Brothers of Plattsburgh, Monique J. Passino and her husband Paul of Peru, ten grandchildren, Corrie, Sarah, Samuel, David, Heath, Ariel, Paul II, Nicholas, Caleb, Bryce, three great grandchildren, Paul III, Briannna and Caleb Jr., several nieces, nephews and his canine companion Scooter. At David's request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held later this summer. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
