Dawn M Becker

Dawn M. Becker, 63, of Gadway Road of Lyon Mt. passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 with her companion Victor Fellion by her side at his home in Malone, NY under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Panama City, Florida on June 7, 1951 the daughter of Clayton and Geraldine (Augustine) Becker. She graduated from Peru Central School in 1969, and worked as a financial planner in Minnesota. She moved back to Plattsburgh in 1994 and opened Joe's Discount Furniture. Dawn later opened the Mattress Store in 2001. Several years later she moved the Mattress Store to its current location on Route 3 in Plattsburgh and opened Dawn's Furniture Gallery. Dawn was a member of Business Networking International and the Chateauguay Lake Association. She enjoyed boating both on the St. Lawrence River and Chateauguay Lake, flowers, spending time with friends both at camp and Barnhart Marina in Massena. She was predeceased by her parents. Dawn is survived her companion Victor Fellion of Malone, NY, her sisters; Wanda Hussey and her husband Matthew, Jr. of Wappinger Falls, NY and Melodie Gebo of Wappinger Falls, NY, her nieces and nephews; Alan Gebo of Peru and Arthur Gebo of Hopewell Junction, NY, Matthew D. Hussey, III and Heather A. Charneski of Clinton Corners, NY, her close friends and employees Jerry Gaginer and Kim Provost, who took great care of Dawn and the business while she was ill. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 10, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Peru at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Dawn's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
