Dawn M Brown

Plattsburgh Mrs. Dawn M. Brown, 74, of LaBarre St., Plattsburgh, NY passed away, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on December 11, 1938 the daughter of Ross and Ruth (Parsons) Vassar. Dawn married LeRoy E. Brown, Sr. at St. Joseph's Church, West Chazy on February 4, 1956. She was first and utmost a very devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time and making precious memories with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although her family was large, so was her heart as she cared for many others of all ages, close family friends of the community, but especially her own parents. Dawn spent a great deal of time in her gardens, camping, fishing, dancing and socializing throughout her entire life. Dawn was a member of the American Legion Post #20 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Peter's Church. She and her husband generously donated to St. Peter's Church and donated the Crucifix at St. Peter's Cemetery on the Priests Circle. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband LeRoy E. Brown, Sr., her brothers; Ross Vassar, Jr., Wayne Vassar, Douglas Vassar, a daughter-in-law Ruth Brown and a grandson Joseph Brown. Dawn is survived by her children; Debra Russell and her husband Randy of Plattsburgh, LeRoy Brown, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Morrisonville, Lisa Carter-White of West Lebanon, NH, Michael Brown of Plattsburgh, Mark Brown of Plattsburgh, two brothers; Bruce Vassar and his wife Elizabeth of Goose Creek, SC, Reginald Vassar of Champlain, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
