Dawn O Mcdonagh

Dawn O. McDonagh, 91, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 7, 2022 in Simsbury, Connecticut. She was born in Potsdam, NY on December 4, 1930, the daughter of the late Reginald and Miriam (LaRue) Osier.

Dawn was predeceased by her husbands Guy A. Faubert and Austin J. McDonagh and a brother Dale R. Osier. She is survived by four children; Deborah A. Hess and her husband Bill of Syracuse, IN, Bruce G. Faubert and his wife Jackie of Plainville, CT, David M. Faubert and his wife Kim of Avon, CT, and Mary Barcomb of FL. She is also survived by twin sisters; Sandra and her husband Salvatore DiVincenzo of Rye Brook, NH and Sonia and her husband Frank Frankovsky of Endicott, NY, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McDonagh lived her early life in Massena, NY and later moved to Malone, NY where she graduated from St. Joseph’s Ursuline Academy. She graduated from the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She later attended SUNY Plattsburgh where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and permanent certification as a School Nurse-Teacher, as well as her Master’s Degree in Education.
Besides a homemaker, she worked as a staff nurse at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone and later taught in the Practical Nurse Program. She then obtained a position at Peru Central School as a School Nurse-Teacher and retired from there after 30 years.

She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. John’s Church. Mrs. McDonagh became an associate member of the Servants of Mary and attended meetings with the Servant Sisters in Massena and Omaha, Nebraska.

She was a member of St. John’s Choir and the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society at St. John’s and St. Vincent de Paul Society in Plattsburgh. She was a volunteer at CVPH for many years prior to moving to Connecticut.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church.
Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Covington Street Road, Malone, New York.

Donations in her memory may be made to American Red Cross.
