Dean “DJ” Nephew, 41, of West Chazy, was called home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Dean was born on February 21, 1979 in Plattsburgh, NY to Dean and Eydie Nephew. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, his sister Kristin Nephew & her fiancée Jack Garrand, his beloved nephews Cayden and Carter Garrand whom he loved and cherished beyond measure. Dean also leaves behind stepmom, Donna Mundy, stepsiblings Becky LaPier, Danielle & Mark Lukasiewicz, and Jess & Catherine Mundy. In addition he leaves behind several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many Friends.
Dean was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Arthur & June Nephew, his maternal grandparents, Raymond & Daphene DeCoste and several Uncles and Aunts.
Dean graduated from Seton Catholic in 1997 and attended college in South Carolina right after. He was currently employed by PMLD as a plant attendant. He held various jobs throughout his life as he was an avid worker and go getter spending most of his time “making money”. He enjoyed hustling and meeting people at the Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall where he was known for his passion and zest for life. No one could ever keep up with him and would joke how he worked and ran like a “machine”. Dean also tried his hand in the insurance field and maple industries as there was nothing he could not do if he set his mind to it.
Growing up, Dean had to be the best and number 1! Throughout life, this still held true. He was always described as one of the best right to the end. He was a competitive athlete and loved being on the ice playing hockey. Dean could walk into a room of strangers and walk out with many friends. It didn’t take him long to fit right in and become the life of the party. Dean loved music and sang his heart out although it was painful at times because he couldn’t carry a tune.
Dean truly enjoyed travelling and couldn’t wait for his next big adventure. He has travelled all over the world. Some of Dean’s fondest memories were made riding his motorcycle with his dad. He enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was just to drop by for a coffee, play boardgames, or just to visit. There was nothing Dean wouldn’t do for his family or anyone he came into contact with. He may not have kept in close contact with everyone but he will never be forgotten by all that were lucky enough to know him.
Dean was known by many for his infectious smile, witty sense of humor, larger than life presence and contagious personality. He was loved by everyone and lived life to the fullest. When Dean wasn’t busy arguing with his sister over everything and who was right, he spent many hours with his mom watching their favorite shows. He also enjoyed working along-side his dad on many projects and looking for the next big endeavor. Dean looked forward to spending time with his nephews whether it was watching soccer games, attending concerts, or just spending time with them for no other reason other than his kindness. Dean really enjoyed taking Cayden to learn to skate, to share his love of hockey which continued to grow with going to watch the Cardinal hockey games together.
Dean was loved by so many and he will forever be missed and remembered.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.”
