Chazy Lake – Debbie Varin, 62, loving wife, incredible mother, heavenly grandmother, and treasured friend made her journey to heaven June 6, 2020 surrounded by her close family and friends, just like she wanted. She was and forever will be our Wonder Woman.
Debbie was born in Plattsburgh on April 18, 1958, daughter of Clarence E. and Ruth V. (O’Connell) Duquette Sr. Debbie was a graduate of Saranac Central School and Hudson Valley Community College for dental hygiene. She practiced 40 years of dental hygiene for the offices of Dr. DeSnyder, Dr. Michaud, Dr. Mintz and Dr. Davison. Debbie touched the lives of all her patients and coworkers with her genuine personality and silly tool nicknames like, “Mr. Thirsty.”
Debbie was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She grew up in St. James parish and then St. Bernard’s parish after marriage. She volunteered for many different projects in the school for her children and in her community. She supported the North Country Honor Flight to honor her dad, a WWII veteran, and made a memorable trip with him to Washington D.C.
Debbie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved camping, especially at Fish Creek with her family. She spent every summer at Fish Creek for 61 years, it was her sanctuary. At Fish Creek, she enjoyed reading in her hammock and taking sunset cruises around the ponds. Other passions include, gardening, astronomy, shopping (she loved Christmas shopping with her besties), scary movies, decorating (she made everything Pinterest Perfect), traveling, snowmobiling, ice cream (Donnelly’s was her favorite), photography (she documented life beautifully) and creating a moment for family dinners. Whenever time permitted, Debbie and Joey would go on Sunday drives. They would take roads they never took before and always found a perfect spot to stop for dinner. She made spectacular cakes and cupcakes for all occasions. She was our cake boss. Debbie loved to stay in touch with her family and friends’ lives through Facebook. She made sure to comment and like everyone’s posts to share her love. It would be normal to have 250 notifications from Debbie Varin. The effort she put in to make people feel loved is inspiring.
Debbie is survived by her husband, two daughters, two siblings, a sister and brother, in-laws, nieces, nephews, godchildren, numerous cousins and many friends.
