Dennis Wayne Barber

Dennis Wayne Barber, 63, of Essex Center, 81 Park St., in Elizabethtown NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 under Comfort Care at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 5, 1957 at CVPH, the son of Rolland B. and Sally A. (Buttery) Barber.
Dennis graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1975. Dennis worked in the Custodial Trades for many years. He enjoyed swimming, camping, playing poker, going to casinos, family, singing and a host of other family-oriented activities. Dennis was a gentle giant, generous, kind and funny man who always made other people smile and ultimately laugh out loud.
When Dennis played poker, he exhibited the famous “Barber Luck” and would often win the pot and rule the deck. There was always banter and chatter accompanying the games and the competition was always fierce. When the game was done, more often than not, Dennis walked away with a heavy pocket on each side.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Lorri Rizzie.
He is survived by his siblings: Debra Lopez and her husband William, Roland Barber Jr. and his wife Susan, Tammy Berg and her husband Keith, Barbara Barber and Wayne Perkins, his brother-in-law Walter Rizzie, his nieces and nephews Roland, Roxanne, Rachel and Justin Barber, Ryan Barber and Brandon Berg, Jennifer, Elisa and Leeann Rizzie and Shawna Perkins and many great-nieces and great-nephews, all whom he loved dearly.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public calling hours or services. A celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family believes Dennis, with his love of God, would love the generosity of a pay it forward, with an act of kindness.
