Dennis Lindstrom Barnard, 72, of Plattsburgh passed away, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh, on October 13, 1948, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Macey) Barnard.
He began his education at the original Beekmantown School, which was a one-room school house, before transferring to the current Beekmantown School where he graduated in 1967. He enjoyed spending summers at his family’s camps on Monty’s Bay and Loon Lake, and in the winters, he enjoyed snowmobiling. He attended the original Woodstock in 1969, hung out with Hank Williams Jr. when he performed at the Clinton County Fair, had dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, and drove members of the 1980 Soviet Olympic Team from Plattsburgh to Lake Placid. He had many careers; his favorite was as a sous chef at Houlihan’s Restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio where he cooked for celebrities including Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver, William “Refrigerator” Perry, and “Mean” Joe Green, who said, “Dennis makes the best chicken stir-frys.” In 1995, he retired and became a full-time stay-at-home father. He had many passions: riding motorcycle, photography, listening to his favorite bands, including Black Sabbath, ACDC, and Metallica. He was a proud member of Knights of Columbus Council #6067 in Morrisonville where he was a former Grand Knight, and he was a member of the 4th Degree Color Corp. Dennis was a loving husband, loving father and a great friend.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dianna (Zamoski) Barnard, his son, Joseph, his brother, Romeo, step-children, Eddy, Dawn, and Heather as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Donalda, and his brother, Timothy.
