Plattsburgh Mrs. Diane M. Barota, 72, of Twin Circle in Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on November 14, 1941, the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Stone) LaBombard. Diane was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church where she was a volunteer. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Mary Immaculate # 479. She also was a volunteer for the Reach for Recovery program at Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. Diane also enjoyed bowling, golfing, ceramics and reading. She is survived by her husband, George Barota whom she married on May 21, 1978 at the Old Base Chapel, two sons and daughters in law; Kevin and Nancy Lancto of Massachusetts, Brian and Angela Lancto of Plattsburgh, a daughter and son in law; Lori and Jeff Boren of Beekmantown, a sister and 2 brothers in law; Elizabeth and John Tousignant of Plattsburgh , Don Thornton of West Chazy, a sister in law; Janet LaBombard of Plattsburgh, 4 grandchildren; Stephanie and Chuck Williams, Gabrielle Boren, Zachary Lancto and Brandon Lancto, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother James LaBombard and a sister Joan Thornton. In accordance with Diane's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, Hospice of the North Country or Our Lady of Victory Church.
