Morrisonville Donald J. Campagna was carried to his heavenly father Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his home. He was born September 9, 1933 in Highgate Canter, Vermont, the son of the late Oscar and Jeanne (Laroche) Campagna who were both immigrants of Canada and became Naturalized American citizens. He attended elementary and high school at St. Anne's Academy in Swanton, Vermont, graduating in 1952. He attended USAFE classes in the service, Sir George William in Montreal, Clinton Community in Plattsburgh, and numerous 1 to 5 day seminars in business administration in Plattsburgh and Burlington, Vermont. He was 2 years in the Air Force and worked five years for General Motors in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He worked 2 years for Consolidated American as production manager and 34 years for Georgia Pacific Corp. Plattsburgh, New York, 29 years as Shipping and Converting Supervisor and 5 years as Safety training Specialist, retiring in 1996. He married Lyse Cyr on June 24, 1956 at La Visitation Parish Church in Montreal, Quebec. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lyse Cyr on September 10, 2008, two sisters-in-law Hughette Lachance and Lucille Campagna. Don is survived by one daughter and two sons; Nancy C. Browne and her husband Roger of Plattsburgh, David C. Campagna Melrose, MA., Donald F. Campagna and his partner Richard Tant residing in Memphis, TN., a brother Normand Campagna of Highgate Center, VT, a brother-in-law Roger Lachance who lives in Montreal, a brother in law Guy Cyr of Victoriaville and Vilma DeBlasio of Montreal, five grandchildren; Maya, Izaiah, Matthew, William, Darren and a niece and nephews and many cousins. Don loved to travel and after retirement in 1996 went to Mexico, Las Vegas and Florida, the Western part of the U.S. and Eastern part of Canada on extended vacations. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting, gardening, farming and hunting and was a hunter safety instructor in the State of New York for about fifteen years. Don also enjoyed working on the genealogy of his family and related families. He made three trips to France to research his family and many trips to the archives in Montreal and Quebec City. He also authored a book on his first ancestor born (1668-1737) on the North American continent, another book on the manifest of the boat that carried his first ancestor in French and English from Larochelle (France) to New France (Quebec) in 1664. He also made many translations from French to English and was on the board of directors for many years in the "Association of Campagna and Allied Families Inc." In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.
