Donald A. Dapo, 54, of Hillcrest Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at his home. He was born in Endicott, New York on February 22, 1956, the son of Donald M. and Helene (Lucia) Dapo. Donald was legally blind for most of his life, remarkably he had a great ability for making models and working on small engines. His greatest joy was his go-kart that he designed and built himself. Donald worked as a mechanic for the State University of New York at Albany for 25 years, before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Deborah (Scribner) Dapo, two sisters; Rosemary Monty and her husband Gerald of West Chazy, NY and Starr Favro and her husband Kevin of AZ, a brother Bruce LaTour of CA, two sister-in-laws; Bonnie Bennett and her husband Wayne of VA and Denise Rozen and her husband Jim of Albany, NY, three brothers; Steven Scribner and his wife Jillian of Schnectady, NY, Paul Scribner and Robert Scribner, both of FL, and several nieces and nephews survive him. Calling hours will be held on Thursday September 23, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 9:00 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday September 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru, NY.
